Two major My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fan conventions took place over the past weekend, one in the USA and one in Europe.
BronyCon, which dates back to 2011, had over 9500 attendees this year in Baltimore, Maryland. The convention had special guests from the show, including but definitely not limited to: Peter New (voice of Big Macintosh), Andrea Libman (voice of Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy), Daniel Ingram (musical composer), Sabrina Alberghetti (storyboard artist), G.M. Berrow (author) and many more. Creators of arts and other merchandise participated as vendors, many panels covered numerous aspects of the show and its fandom, special rooms for people to mingle and play games were present, and much more than even that!
At the same time, GalaCon was taking place in Ludwigsburg, Germany. This large, European-based convention was in its third incarnation. The event, like BronyCon, had a mix of panels, merchandise, events and more. Unique to its location, special guests included some from the original American version of the show like Nicole Oliver (voice of Princess Celestia and Cheerilee) and M.A. Larson (writer) as well as German voice actors such as Jennifer Weiss (German Pinkie Pie).
It should also be noted that both BronyCon and GalaCon had events that raised thousands of dollars for charities, another staple of Brony conventions for years.
BronyCon’s official Twitter has confirmed that convention will be returning for another year in 2015. And, there are many more MLP conventions both large and small taking place the remainder of this year and next year as well.
But, I hope that everyone attending and working these conventions had a great time, and will have a great time at future ones! Were you at either of these conventions? Talk about your experience below in the comments!
