This Day in TV History – June 19th, 1995 – Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s “The Adversary” Airs

Sisko is promoted with Captain and must work to prevent a possible war in an episode of Deep Space Nine that aired on this day in television history.

“The Adversary” is the 26th episode of the 3rd season, and season finale, of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Written by Ira Steven Behr and Robert Hewitt Wolfe, it aired in syndication on June 19th, 1995.

In the episode, Commander Benjamin Sisko is promoted to Captain. But, there’s little time to celebrate as he is sent on a mission to the border of an alien race that may turn hostile to the Federation. But, it turns out the man who sent him on the mission–is a Dominion changeling.

The battle against the Dominion would be continue as an off-and-on story arc for the remainder of the show. This is the latest episode of the series with the original version of the show’s theme composed by Dennis McCarthy, and the last episode before Michael Dorn joined the cast as Worf (from Star Trek: The Next Generation) as a main character.
