A pinball game based on the popular Pokemon franchise was released on this day in video game history.
Pokemon Pinball, developed by Jupiter and published by Nintendo, was released for the Game Boy Color on June 28th, 1999.
The gameplay, spread out on two tables Red and Blue, follows the traditional pinball goal: earn lots of points. In addition to that, the player can try to catch all of the 151 Pokemon in the game, to fill out their Pokedex, mirroring one of the main goals of the original Game Boy title.
Pokemon Pinball came with a rumble feature built into its cartridge.
A sequel, Pokemon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire, was released for the Game Boy Advance in 2003.
