This Day in Video Game History – September 5th, 2000 – Hogs of War Released

A unique strategy game involving pigs in combat was released on this day in history.

Hogs of War was developed by the Sheffield House of Infogrames Studios and released in the U.S. on September 5th, 2000 after a June released in Europe for the original Sony Playstation console. Courtesy: Infogrames

The game lets players control a group of pigs in a 3D combat environment. Each player takes a turn moving one of those pigs and setting them up to battle the others. Weapons range from bazookas to grenades to rifles and more.

Hogs of War features both a single player campaign as well as multiplayer.

A planned sequel for 2009 was never released, but the original would later be re-released on Steam, Good old Games, and the Playstation Network store.
