In the episode, three animal-based villains have been committing increasingly-brazen crimes around Gotham City. As Batman and Robin investigate their crime spree, they find out about the surprising origins of this “terrible trio.”

The Terrible Trio, including villains based on the Fox, the shark, and the vulture, first made their debut during the Silver Age of DC Comics, in issue #253 of Detective Comics written by Dave Wood and Sheldon Moldoff.
