“Spock’s Brain” is the first episode of the third season of the original Star Trek series. Written by Lee Cronin and directed by Marc Daniels, it first aired on NBC on September 20th, 1968.

In the episode, a mysterious alien woman boards the Enterprise and knocks out the crew. When they awake, it turns out that Spock’s brain has been stolen. When the crew tracks down where they believe it has been taken, they find a planet where the men live in primitive conditions on the surface while the women live underground–including the one that stole Spock’s Brain!

The episode has a reputation as one of the cheesiest and goofiest of the original Star Trek’s run, some considering one of the worst period, while others putting it in the “so bad, it’s good territory.”

“Brain and brain! What is brain?”
