“The Best of Both Worlds, Part II” is the 4th season premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Written by Michael Piller, it first aired in syndication on September 24th, 1990.

In the episode, which continues immediately after Part 1, it turns out the Borg have adapted to the Enterprise’s original plan of attack, thanks to gaining the knowledge of Captain Picard from his capture and assimilation. So, the Borg head towards Earth. The now Captain Riker must do some adapting of his own to save his home and the Federation itself.

The two-parter is considered a classic in the annals of Star Trek history. The Borg would become a staple of the Star Trek universe, appearing later on in Star Trek: The Next Generation and throughout the other live-action Star Trek series. Ron Jones’ score for the two-parter would later get its own release and win awards. Season-ending cliffhangers would also become a staple for the franchise as well.
