“The Search, Part II” is the 2nd episode of the 3rd season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Written by Ira Steven Behr (with story by Behr and Robert Hewitt Wolfe), it first aired in syndication on October 3rd, 1994.

Picking up directly where the events of where the first part left, Odo gets to know his people inside the Omarian Nebula–fellow shapeshifters. Meanwhile, it seems that Bashir and Sisko have been rescued from their crippled shuttle to find see that the Federation is now in peace talks with the Dominion that attacked them just days ago.

The episode marks a notable turn in the series, as Odo discovers his people are really the founders of the threatening Dominion and introduces the starship Defiant as a staple of the series.
