In the episodes, the Joker teams up with Lex Luthor with an offer to kill Superman in Metropolis. Batman follows the trail to Superman’s adopted hometown, and the two must come together to face the devious duo.

The series combines the universes of The New Batman Adventures (which itself continues from Batman: The Animated Series) and Superman the Animated Series, both part of what’s known as the DCAU or DC Animated Universe. Thus, the guest cast includes Kevin Conroy (Batman), Mark Hamill (the Joker), Arleen Sorkin (Harley Quinn) among many others. The three episodes together have also been released in a combined home video release as The Batman/Superman Movie, and also on their original form on the Superman: The Animated Series DVD sets.
