SSX Tricky was developed by EA Canada and published under the EA Sports Big label. It was first released in North America on November 5th, 2001 on the Playstation 2–to be released later for the GameCube and original Xbox.

Like the original title, simply known as SSX, the game features an arcade-style twist on snowboarding. Across several modes and tracks, players travel down courses filled with rails, ramps and more. These can help gain points and allow for boosts when tricks are performed. The characters in the game, some of whom had celebrity voice actros such as Lucy Liu, were stylized and had their own unique characteristics.

Like the first game, the sequel was a hit, leading to several more sequels and spinoffs over the next decade or so.
