A mobile video game based on a hit animated series was released four years ago today.
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, developed and published by Gameloft, was released around the world for iOS and Android phones and tablets on November 8th, 2012.
The town-constructing, slice-of-life game has the player work to rebuild Ponyville by building homes, stimulating business and getting people to move in. There are also quests that the player can engage in and mini-games that are a part of the app as well.
Throughout the past four years, there have been numerous updates to the game adding new characters, settings, references and more. Some can be acquired through natural game progress without the need to pay any funds. However, the freemium nature of the app has faced some criticism from fans of the show and game players in general.
The game has been downloaded millions of times, has a 4-star rating on the Apple Store, and takes up 96MB on the phone.
