In the episode, newly-crowned Princess Twilight Sparkle tries to get used to her new wings before the Summer Sun Celebration in Canterlot. But, before the fun can begin, the other Princesses have vanished and dangerous vines are encroaching on her hometown of Ponyville. Now, she must unite with her friends to solve the mystery and end the multiple threats.

The episode marks the end of the Elements of Harmony, a staple of the series from the beginning. It also sets up the plot of a mysterious box that needed keys to open–an overarching plot of the entire fourth season. John de Lancie reprises his role of Discord as well.
