In the episode, the young ponies of Ponyville are vying for the chance to carry the community’s flag in the upcoming Equestria Games sporting event. That includes the Cutie Mark Crusaders, who have a routine planned and rehearsed. But, when a pair of bullies pick on Scootaloo for not being able to fly like most other pegasi, she focuses her time on trying to fly instead of the routine.

The episode includes the original song, “Hearts Strong as Horses” composed by Daniel Ingram, Steffan Andrews, and David Corman. Ed Valentine and Ingram composed the lyrics, and it was performed by Michelle Creber, Madeleine Peters, and Claire Corlett. The song is a kind of power-ballad, which the creators say are inspired by Rocky montage songs like “Eye of the Tiger.”
