This Day in Television History – March 3rd, 2012 – My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic’s “Putting Your Hoof Down” Airs

Fluttershy tries to overcome her perceived status as a doormat with the help of a monster—I mean a minotaur—in an episode that first aired five years ago today.

“Putting Your Hoof Down” is the 19th episode of the 2nd season of the animated series, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Written by Merriwether Williams (with story by Charlotte Fullerton), it first aired on the Hub network on March 3rd, 2012.

In the episode, Fluttershy has a bad experience at a market and feels like she is being pushed around and not taken seriously. So, she goes to an event about assertiveness being taught by a visiting minotaur, Iron Will. But, his lesson succeeds almost too well and Fluttershy becomes incredibly aggressive and pushy!

The minotaur character of Iron Will is based on Hulk Hogan and Mr. T, according to the staff behind the development of the show. He is voiced by Trevor Devall, who voices other supporting characters in the series like Fancy Pants and Thunderlane.
