The game puts the player in charge of a theme park. They must manage and create rides, concessions, decorations, paths, employees and more. Many facets and minutia can be managed–down to the prices of sodas, the speed that a ride goes and what part of the park a mascot entertains visitors in.

In addition, fully customizable roller coasters of varied types can be created with unique paths and designs. However, they must be made safe–or they might crash!

The game comes with 22 different scenarios. The game received critical acclaim and was a success on the retail market. Two expansion packs for the original were later released, as well as several sequels.
