The second feature film featuring the Avengers all together again was released two years ago today.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” written and directed by Joss Whedon, was released in theaters across the United States on May 1st, 2015.
In the film, an artificial intelligence project by Iron Man to help save the world from future threats goes awry and becomes a threat to the Avengers and the world itself. Now, the team must set aside their differences to fight this latest threat.
The movie is 12th set in the interconnected Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the next to last movie in phase two of that universe. The film introduced Vision (voiced by JARVIS actor Paul Bettany) into the world of live-action, as well as the MCU’s version of X-Men staples Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.
Like the first installment of The Avengers, Age of Ultron was a massive box office hit, raking in over $1.4 billion. The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to this day, with a third Avengers film already in production as of the writing of this piece.
