A hit movie involving dinosaurs based on a novel was released on this day in movie history.
Jurassic Park was released in theaters on June 11th, 1993. The film was written by Michael Crichton and David Koepp (based on the book of the same name by Crichton) and directed by Steven Spielberg. It starred Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, Samuel L. Jackson and Richard Attenborough. John Williams provided the film’s score.
The movie focuses on a theme park with resurrected dinosaurs on a tropical island. Eventually, due to storms and sabotage, the park goes from a wondrous attraction to a place of danger and destruction.
The film was a massive hit, making over a billion dollars. Three sequels have been made, and a fourth one is currently in production. Many video games based on the film and the franchise were made as well.
