The game, co-developed by Nintendo and famed RPG-maker Square-Enix featured multiple sports with a unique Mario spin including volleyball, hockey, basketball and dodgeball. In the vein of Mario Kart or other Mario sports titles, each sport features a variety of powerups, special moves, and unique arenas based around the various games from the Mario franchise. Teams are made of classic Mario characters, but also include characters from some Square-Enix staples like Final Fantasy.

The game did see some success, selling over a million copies worldwide. As a Wii title, it is also playable on the WiiU thanks to that system’s backwards compatibility feature.
